Day 1: Arrival in Buonconvento

Upon arrival to the charming medieval town of Buonconvento you will be met by a driver and taken to the agriturismo where you will stay for the next three days. The bikes are available on site and you can enjoy a delicious Tuscan dinner "à la carte" in the evening if desired, as a lovely introduction to the cycling adventure.

Day 2: From Buonconvento to Murlo and La Befa

33 km, +584 m/-675 m

Breakfast

Cycle through a beautiful, wild and untamed landscape along the Crevolo river to Murlo. Continue past steep cliffs and through oak forests to La Befa. A small part of this road is too narrow and rocky to cycle, about 300 meters, but the fantastic views during the journey are well worth the effort.

Day 3: From Buonconvento to Montalcino

42.6 km, +1177 m/-1177 m

Breakfast

Pedal through sunflower fields past Buonconvento to the heart of the Brunello wine district. Beside the volcano Monte Amiata, the landscape stretches out with plenty of olive trees and grapevines. Cycle uphill to the walled town of Montalcino where you can visit the 14th-century castle and Palazzo Comunale. Return to Buonconvento along small roads.

Day 4: From Buonconvento to Pienza

38 km, +1000 m/-756 m

Breakfast

Cycle up to the remarkable monastery Monte Oliveto Maggiore with its botanical garden. Then follow a winding road through small villages until you are met by a row of hundreds of cypresses. Here you can visit the monastery Sant´Anna in Camprena. Admire the frescoes before continuing to the wonderful little town of Pienza.

Day 5: From Pienza to Bagno Vignoni

24 km, +674 m/-674 m

Breakfast

A peaceful day where you travel on small country roads from Pienza to the small medieval village of Bagno Vignoni. Here you can bathe in the healing, sulfurous water as has been done since Roman times. Return to Pienza via quiet roads in hilly countryside and absorb the unique atmosphere of southern Tuscany.

Day 6: From Pienza to Montepulciano

34 km, +1000 m/-1000 m

Breakfast

From Pienza you cycle along panoramic roads through the small medieval village of Monticchiello. Enjoy the captivating view over Val D´Orcia. Put in a little extra effort on the way up to Montepulciano and treat yourself to a glass of the famous noble wine - Vino Nobile de Montepulciano. A bit more downhill makes the journey home to Pienza somewhat easier.

Day 7: From Pienza to Buonconvento via Lucignano d'Asso

24 km, +400 m/-654 m

Breakfast

Today's journey goes mostly on gravel roads, with gently rolling hills in the most beautiful landscape in the Orcia valley. Halfway you can stop in Lucignano d'Asso, a small village on the L'eroica cycling route. Then you cycle back to the agriturismo where you spend the night.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast

After breakfast a short transfer takes you to the station in Buonconvento. From here you can take the local bus or train to the airport. If you want to stay longer and book additional nights somewhere in Tuscany, this is of course perfectly fine.
