Cycling in Masuria's Lake District

Day 1: Arrival in Warsaw

Arrival in Warsaw and meeting with local guide at 7:00 PM at the hotel. Evening free to discover the city on your own.

Day 2: City tour in Warsaw and first cycling in the Masuria Lake District

After breakfast you get a tour of Warsaw's historic center and beautiful Łazienki Park. Then bus journey (about 4 hours) to Piersławek in the heart of the Puszcza Piska forest. Here begins the cycling trip towards Krutyń, a village by the river with charming family hotel and homemade food.

Day 3: Cycling through the Puszcza Piska forest

Today's stage goes through Poland's largest forest area – home to elk, deer, fox and wild boar. Lunch stop in Ruciane-Nida, then cycling to Wojnowo with Russian Orthodox church and old monastery.

Day 4: Kayaking and cycling in Masuria Nature Park

40 km

The morning offers the opportunity for paddling along the Krutynia river (6 km, about 2 hours) with crystal clear water, mirror-like surfaces and plenty of birds. In the afternoon cycling through Masuria's landscape park to Mikołajki, also called "Venice of Masuria". Here you stay at a lakeside hotel.

Day 5: Boat and bike around Mikołajki

The day begins with a nice boat trip on the Masurian canals between Mikołajki and Ryn (1 hour 40 minutes), with views over lakes and castles. Then you cycle through small villages and canals back to Mikołajki. Possibility of barbecue evening with music.

Day 6: Wolf's Lair and cycling between lake communities

Bus to Wolf's Lair (Varglyan) – Hitler's former headquarters, where you can choose to add a guided tour. Then cycling via Kętrzyn and Nakomiady to Mrągowo, beautifully located by the lakes. Here too you stay at a lakeside hotel.

Day 7: Cycling through old Masuria

50 km

Today's cycling tour goes through a landscape that seems unchanged since the 1800s, through stork villages and open meadows. Don't miss visiting the Protestant church in Sorkwity before returning to your lake hotel.

Day 8: Cycling among castles and churches between Warmia and Masuria

30 km

Breakfast

Cycling to Święta Lipka with its famous baroque church and organ concert. Continue to the historic town of Reszel with its mighty castle. In the afternoon bus to Warsaw. Poland's capital is an exciting mix of historic quarters and gleaming skyscrapers, and surprises many visitors with its forward momentum.

Day 9: Farewell to the cycling trip in Poland

After breakfast the trip ends. Possibility to stay in Warsaw for an extra night.
