Cycling in Connemara - Short Week

5 days / 4 nights

4 Breakfasts included

Day 1: Arrival in Clifden

Arrival in Clifden and check-in at your accommodation. Clifden is the capital of Connemara and offers plenty of culture, beautiful streets, cozy pubs and good restaurants. A roadbook with maps as well as a bike and cycling equipment await you. If you choose to, a representative from our local organizer will meet you either this afternoon or tomorrow morning to go through your bike trip.

Day 2: Cycling from Clifden to Renvyle

45 km

Breakfast

You start your bike trip towards the Renvyle peninsula by cycling along Sky Road, which offers you fantastic views of the Atlantic and the islands off the coast. On small, quiet roads you pass the picturesque fishing village of Cleggan and then continue towards Letterfrack in Connemara National Park. Here you can take a break and walk in the park or climb Diamond Hill. Then continue to your accommodation for the night where you will be greeted by the friendliness that Connemara is known for.

Day 3: Cycling from Renvyle to Leenane

25 km

Breakfast

Set off from Renvyle and pass through Tullycross with its thatched-roof houses. Shortly after, you will arrive at one of Ireland's greatest attractions - Kylemore Abbey & Gardens. This Gothic fairytale castle is situated lushly by a beautiful lake. As you continue cycling, you pass just below the majestic peaks of the Twelve Bens mountain range. Continue along the dramatic Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord, to the small village of Leenane.

Day 4: Cycling from Leenane to Westport

55 km

Breakfast

After breakfast, as you leave Leenane, you continue along the Killary fjord before leaving the water and heading into Delphi Valley with its green hills. The road then winds along the dark, deep lake Doolough to the coastal town of Louisburgh. Here you rejoin the coastal road and cycle along Clew Bay in the shadow of the impressive, holy mountain Croagh Patrick. Continue to the charming town of Westport, an old market town that blends old and new in a fine way.

Day 5: Farewell to the cycling trip in Ireland

Breakfast

The trip ends after breakfast in Westport. Why not take a few extra nights to explore Ireland a little more?
