Day 1: Arrival in Leenane

Arrival in Leenane and check-in at your accommodation. Roadbook with directions and maps as well as bicycle and cycling equipment await you. A representative from our local operator will meet you either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Day 2: Cycling from Leenane to Westport

60 km

Breakfast

Your first cycling stage goes to the colorful town of Westport via Aasleagh Falls, Delphi and Doolough Valleys, Louisburgh and Clew Bay. The route is 60 km with options for longer or shorter alternatives.

Day 3: Cycling from Westport to Croagh Patrick

50-70 km

Breakfast

Today you explore the area around Westport. You have several different options to choose from, including cycling the 42 km long Great Western Greenway, the longest traffic-free walking and cycling path in Ireland. You can also choose to cycle along Clew Bay to Louisburgh and visit the 14th century monastery Murrisk Abbey along the way or climb Croagh Patrick to visit Westport House.

Day 4: Cycling from Westport to Cong

60 km

Breakfast

Today you leave Westport and cycle onwards towards Cong. After breakfast you make your way via Aghagower, Tourmakeady, Lough Mask, Finny and Clonbour to Cong. This is a wonderful, long 70 km cycle through varied landscape with hills, lakes, narrow country roads and you can stop at a suitable pub along the way for lunch.

Day 5: Cycling from Cong to Leenane

65-90 km

Breakfast

Today you continue south from Cong along Lough Corrib to Maam and over a small mountain pass to Maam Cross before heading for Inagh Valley and cycling back towards Leenane. It's a long 90 km cycle but you have the option to make it shorter (65 km) if you wish.

Day 6: Cycling around Leenane

50-80 km

Breakfast

The last cycling day offers much to see as you cycle west to Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park and Renylve Castle before making your way back to Leenane (50 km). The longer stage takes you further south to Cleggan and Streamstown Bay (80 km). Back in Leenane you can round off a wonderful cycling week at one of the restaurants or pubs in the village.

Day 7: Farewell to the cycling trip in Ireland

The trip ends after breakfast, unless you want to treat yourself to some extra nights.
