Cycle around Lake Constance

Arrival on your own to Konstanz with its many attractions. Here you can experience how the Middle Ages come alive in the Rosgarten Museum.

You cycle through picturesque fishing villages along a beautiful lake and will pass the medieval town of Stein am Rhein. Be sure to visit Hohenklingen Castle, with origins from the Middle Ages. Enjoy the beautiful view as the castle is located high above the town. Visit the Lindwurm Museum before cycling on to Gailingen, a real gem along the Rhine.

Take some time in the morning to explore the town, there's plenty of time for it. Many towns in the area are well preserved from the Middle Ages, take the opportunity to enjoy their charm. Then continue across the Höri peninsula to Radolfzell where you can visit its basilica and the "Austrian Castle".

Today you cycle via the fishing village of Sipplingen to Überlingen with its beautiful lakeside promenade. You pass Birnau monastery church before reaching Unteruhldingen, which is famous for its half-timbered houses. In Unteruhldingen we recommend a visit to the open-air museum, with a reconstructed village from the early Stone Age.

Meersburg, the museum town, invites you on a journey to the Middle Ages with its romantic Winkel. Your journey leads you through wine and fruit plantations to Friedrichshafen with the Zeppelin Museum, which is worth visiting.

You cross the Rhine delta and reach the old port town of Rorschach. Continue thereafter along the southern, Swiss coastal strip towards Arbon, a pleasant town with a fine old town center and marketplace.

During today's stage you travel to Switzerland via the Rhine delta nature reserve and continue cycling to Rorschach with the beautiful Kornhaus museum, well worth a stop. Cultivation of fruit and berries is still dominant in this area, and you pass some of these plantations during today's cycling.

On your last day you will travel in the alpine highlands of Thurgau. Take the opportunity to relax on the beach by the lake, before cycling back to Konstanz. You can also take the opportunity to visit the Sea Life Center where you can enter the fascinating underwater world.
