Today's hike takes you to the old lighthouse at Cap Sardão, past small fishing harbors, red sand dunes and pine forests. The high cliffs you see during the day are exposed to the sea's salt spray and are nesting sites for over 20 bird species! You arrive at the small coastal town of Zambujeira do Mar where you will spend the night.

From the chapel Our Lady of the Sea, which clings to a cliff dominating the beach, this fantastic coastal hike follows the fishermen's paths that run along the cliffs through colorful and fragrant heathlands. This part of the hike lies between the two regions of Alentejo and Algarve. The view from the cliffs down to the mouth of the Odeceixe River, with its white wavy sandbanks and turquoise water, is truly a highlight of the hike.

Day 6: From Odeceixe - To Aljezur - 14 km, +200 m/-200 m

Transfer (30 min) to Rogil. The hike starts along a "levada", an irrigation channel. The water from the levada is partly used for agricultural purposes. This specific region is famous for sweet potatoes, cereals and vines. A hike through a beautiful pine forest leads to the fantastic Amoreira beach, and the trail then continues through the hills towards Aljezur, the capital of the Vicentine coast, with its narrow streets and medieval castle.

Day 7: Circular hike via Atalaia Point & Monte Clerigo - 15 km, +150 m/-200 m

The Moorish castle offers a beautiful morning view over the small town of Aljezur and the Amoreira valley. Then, through valleys and hills, you reach the small harbor and surf spot Arrifana before the spectacular point Atalaïa. The ruins of an old Sufi place of worship add a mystical feeling to the natural beauty of the place. The hike ends in the charming, small village of Monte Clerigo with its beautiful beach. Return transfer to Aljezur (20 min).

A transfer takes you to Carrapateira, a fishing and surfing village in the heart of the Vicentine coast nature park. You cross a flowering dune ridge to reach the small Bordeira River and the long beach of the same name. The hike continues along the eroded coast, where, surprisingly, some storks still manage to build nests by the sea, a phenomenon unique to the Vicentine. You return to the village of Carrapateira where you can visit the small museum "Terra e Mar", dedicated to traditional agriculture and fishing. Transfer to Vila do Bispo.

A 20-minute journey to the starting point of your hike, a beach that looks like it's taken from a postcard. The hiking trail follows cliffs, bays and beaches along the wild coastline to the small harbor in Sagres. You pass through the village to reach Sagres fortress, an important maritime monument where a huge wind rose testifies to the great scientific navigation research during the 15th century, encouraged and financed by Henri Le Navigateur, Prince of Portugal.
