Coastal Hiking in Wales - Pembrokeshire

St Davids is Britain's smallest city and a visit to the area is not complete without experiencing St Davids Cathedral. There is no train station in the city, but it is easily reached by bus. From Swansea the journey takes about three hours.

Today's hike goes along windswept, wild headlands where you often get a strong sense of solitude and space. With a bit of luck you'll see seals along the coast or dolphins out at sea on clear days. From Whitesands Bay you take a local bus back to St Davids. Information about bus connections is included in your information material. During low season, taxi may need to be arranged.

After a short bus journey back to Whitesands Bay, today's hike begins towards Abercastle. Along the way you pass several small bays where remains of old mine buildings and traces of former railways are still visible. Accommodation capacity in Abercastle is limited. If there is no availability, included transfer journeys return via Fishguard or Goodwick are arranged.

A hilly day with many ascents and descents along the dramatic coast. The highlight is Strumble Head, where the iconic lighthouse rises on a rocky headland with sweeping views over the sea. The hike then continues down through green valleys towards Fishguard Bay and Goodwick. Overnight stay in Goodwick or Fishguard.

A varied day with dramatic cliffs, peaceful bays and extensive sea views. The hike goes through Fishguard and continues along the coast through areas rich in both wildlife and historic sites, in the heart of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

After stocking up for the day, the journey's most demanding but also most rewarding hike begins. This stage has the greatest elevation differences along the entire coastal path. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path officially ends in St Dogmaels, but since there is no accommodation there, the hike continues to Cardigan. The extra distance is included in today's distance. If accommodation is not available in Cardigan, included taxi return to the village of Gwbert is arranged.

After breakfast, the hiking trip concludes. From Cardigan, buses go to Swansea or Cardiff, where you can easily connect onwards to other parts of Britain. If you stayed overnight in Gwbert, taxi back to Cardigan is arranged for the journey home.
